Just love the last statement. "common use of the word “ ill fate”, shows how the editorial can keep pushing the wheel of clichés, making them words of common use, when in actual fact they are statements of absurdities and recipes of sadism". great statement and full of meaning.

Nice "Photo Guide" from the "Multimedia Coordinator..."

Not every photo is good material for publication. Since cliches are a no no here, I won't say much. But as one scholar once said, "...even a hell of a good news story gets spiked..." And I believe photos are treated the same way! On top of being good, it should tell a story, a good story. It should have meaning (the 1000 plus words). It should have action. Why tell someone to pose in front of their burnt hut when you can get the same as they go about their daily work around the same hut? Besides looking at Bernard Wesonga's photos, we should ask him how he does it... He is one of us and (I believe) ready to share his bit. Again no cliches here...but "a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle...!

Closer to our subject, yes! Even if that subject is a raging bush fire...

Mind about the position of the sun... if it means standing behind the sun, as one trainee in Moroto said, so be it.

Sometimes we "kill" photos because we are not stable and we shake when focusing! Yes, we work under tight deadlines and we are required to "think in a hurry," but this should not be interpreted as focusing in a hurry.

Sometimes we use the flash unnecessarily...

Sometimes our battery is too weak...

Write your own caption, use your own words to describe the photo. After all it speaks 1000+ words. I'm tempted to think you cannot describe it better than it does... Because you have seen a certain caption style somewhere doesn't mean that style is correct...

In Henry Bongyereirwe's notes all this is catered for... Consult that notebook again, please!
