KUMI Resident District Commissioner, Charles Mubiru, has ordered for the arrest of the Atutur Secondary school NUSAF community management committee, for alleged embezzlement. The order for arrest follows concerns about the misuse of the funds. Mubiiru says information received by his office shows that more than one million shillings meant for the construction of classroom blocks and teachers houses at Atutur secondary school was embezzled. The NUSAF District Technical Officer, Stephen Ojangole, confirmed that the work was too shoddy. He however says that the management committee should not be blamed for the shoddy work. But Mubiiru maintains that failure to account for project funds is unacceptable. He warned that he won't hesitate to sue 70 other community management committees, which have failed to account for NUSAF money. The five-year 100 million dollar, NUSAF program was implemented in 2003 to assist government tackle poverty and bring about development that utilizes and builds on community value systems in the North and North-eastern Uganda.
