Amuca Seventh Day Adventist School, has beaten Comboni College, two goals to nil, to emerge the 2008 champions of Lira district Post Primary Schools Football tournament. The three-day event played at Adwari SS, attracted 16 secondary schools, excluding Lango College, the defending champions who could not defend their title because of a three year ban they earned last year during the national tournament in Jinja. Lango College was punished for fielding an unregistered player. In the semi finals yesterday, Amuca surprised Dara Christian High School, who was being tipped for the title with a one nil defeat to advance to the finals while Comboni emerged through after edging out hosts, Adwari SS five goals to four in a penalty shootout following a goalless draw. This the first time Amuca SDA school has claimed the title and ends Lango College's consecutive five times championship in the tournament. Amuca will now represent the district at the national post primary school football competition, which starts in Arua district on April 25.
