Dokolo district has emerged winner of the best water project implementation award.
 
The award given by the water and environment ministry recognizes districts that have implemented the ministry’s projects in a timely manner.
 
David Obong Oleke, the Commissioner, Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department, says Dokolo district displayed smartness in all the procurement procedures, planning and implementation of water and sanitation programme.
 
Dokolo district also spent all the 330 million shillings they received from the ministry for the financial year 2010 – 2011.
 
Julius Peter Odongkara, the Dokolo district Chief Administrative Officer, attributes the success to the specialists and the zero tolerance to corruption.
 
Odongkara says, as the top most civil servant in the district he has been very tough on corrupt and non-performing officers.
 
Freddie Owiny, the District Water Officer, says water coverage in Dokolo stands at 79%.
