In short
In its 30 page petition, a copy of which URN has seen, Sserulanda seeks the United Nations Human Rights Council to intervene and stop the Government of Uganda from persecuting them.

Sserulanda Spiritual Foundation has petitioned United Nations accusing the Government of Uganda and Pastor Solomon Male, the Executive Director of Arising for Christ church of religious persecution and economic sabotage.

Bambi Baaaba Babuwe and his followers are accusing Government of Uganda and Pastor Male of sabotaging their activities and blocking the multi-billion shilling construction of a free trade zone.

Rev. Dr. Bhuka Bijumiro, the General Secretary of Sserulanda Spiritual Foundation claims that many of their followers have suffered religious discrimination and persecution which is a violation of their right to pray and worship.

He says they have already handed over a copy of their petition to the UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon and another to the United Nations Human Rights Council to intervene and stop the Government of Uganda from persecuting their followers and sabotaging their plans to construct a Free Trade Zone in Rakai district.

Dr. Bhuka explains that the recent government inquiry outcomes which portrayed Sserulanda spiritual leader Bambi Baaba Babuwe as a murderer is not true and they want UN to carry out an independent inquiry into their activities to clear them.

Ensikire Keraanje Nemigero, an American national who supports the petition says they want UN to immediately do something about their persecution because their foundation has no problem. Nemigero, who came to Uganda last year, describes Sserulanda and the proposed Free Trade Zone as heavenly universal international city of peace which government has no option but to allow.

Gjuno Basenda Ssensulazza, another American National, who also joined Sserulanda spiritual foundation, says they have suffered a lot because of religious persecution.  He claims that many people have promoted negative propaganda about their plans to construct the city describing Rakai district as an HIV infected district which cannot sustain a Free Trade Zone.

He says he is sure the United Nations Human Rights council will help provide protection for them.

But Mary Karooro Okurut, the Information and National Guidance minister has told URN on phone that she is not aware of the allegations against government. She however declined to comment further saying she was still very busy in the meeting.

Pastor Solomon Male, who is also accused of running summons and crusades denouncing the activities of Sserulanda put off his phone when contacted for a comment.

Sserulanda Spiritual foundation is located in Kabira Sub County Rakai district. In 2008, the Government of Uganda blocked its plans to construct a multi- billion dollar Free Trade Zone in the area over alleged controversies surrounding its activities.

As a result, President Museveni set up a special commission of inquiry, headed by Prof Nelson Ssewankambo to investigate the activities of the foundation.

The investigations stemmed from concerns about the establishment of a separate governmental structure to govern the 200 square miles in Rakai and the power the Ssesamirembe leaders will have to enact their own laws, ordinances, by-laws and procedures.
Bambi Baaba Babuwe recently accused government of blocking a 700billion dollar loan facility from the Chinese Government meant to finance the construction of the Free Trade Zone.
