Busoga Kingdom chiefs have elected William Gabula IV as the new Kyabazinga of Busoga. William Gabula IV was voted into office by 10 chiefs out of the 11 with voting rights.

The meeting held today at the kingdom headquarters of Bugembe saw 10 chiefs convene. They included Wangume Yasin of Butembe, Luba  Juma of Bunya, Izimba Gologolo Kigulu chief, Luuka Chief Nabwana Tabingwa. Edward Columbus Wambuzi of Bulamongi chiefdom abstained from the process and did not attend.

The 10 chiefs elected Gabula IV to a five year term as the Busoga Kingdom Constitution is reviewed.

Speaking to journalists after the meeting, the chairperson of the meeting and Bunya Chief Juma Munulo  said that the newly elected
Kyabazinga will be introduced to Busoga Lukiko on Monday the 25th August.

In his remarks, the Isabalagira also the acting Kyabazinga David Kawune said Gabula IV would take over the duties of the obwa Kyabazinga.

Busoga Kingdom has not had a substantive Kyabazinga for six years.
