Corporal Edgar Tumuhairwe, the Officer in Charge of Kasana Police post in Luweero town council is in trouble for alleged negligence. Tumuhairwe was picked up on Wednesday a few hours after unidentified thugs raided Kasana police Post killing Geoffrey Bala and injuring critically Sergeant Sarah Achan.

Achan is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral hospital. According to sources, Musa Nabendeh, the Savanah Regional Police Commander ordered the arrest of Tumuhairwe after reports emerged that he was around when the two officers were attacked but he did nothing to protect them.

Tumuhairwe is currently being held at Luweero central police station to help identity those behind the attack. A highly placed source in the District Security Committee told URN on condition of anonymity that in his police statement Tumuhairwe says he was in a vehicle outside the police post when three men dressed in army uniform attacked his colleagues with machetes.

However, the source says Tumuhairwe defends himself saying that he was too terrified and couldn't fire a single bullet to disable or arrest the attackers. Lameck Kigozi, the Savannah Regional Police spokesman has confirmed the arrest of Tumuhairwe but declined to divulge details.

He also discloses that, the police management ordered the evacuation of Achan from Kiwoko Hospital to Mulago national Referral Hospital for better management.
