The highly anticipated 2024 Airtel Masaza Cup final will be held at the iconic Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, on November 2, 2024. This announcement was made on Monday by Buganda Kingdom’s Sports Minister, Robert Sserwanga, during a press briefing at Bulange, Mengo, the Kingdom’s headquarters.
The tournament, which kicked off in June, has reached its semifinal stage, with Buwekula, Kyaggwe, Buddu, and Kyadondo counties making it to the final four. These teams will now battle in the semifinals, with the winners advancing to the grand finale at Namboole Stadium.
Speaking at the press event, Sserwanga expressed his deep gratitude to the fans and stakeholders who have supported the Masaza Cup. “I want to thank all the supporters and contributors who have played a key role in backing the teams. On November 2nd, from among Kyadondo, Kyaggwe, Buwekula, and Buddu, we will crown the 2024 Masaza Cup champions,” he said.
Sserwanga also extended his appreciation to the tournament sponsors, especially Airtel Uganda, for their vital contribution. “Our sponsors have been exceptional partners, and I thank them, especially Airtel Uganda, our main sponsor, for their unwavering support,” he noted. Ticket prices for the finals will remain unchanged from previous years: UGX 20,000 for ordinary tickets, UGX 50,000 for VIP, and UGX 100,000 for VVIP.
Airtel Uganda, the title sponsor, reaffirmed its dedication to promoting local sports and preserving cultural heritage. “Airtel Uganda is proud to be part of this journey, one that unites communities and celebrates our rich traditions. We look forward to an exciting final and commend all the teams for their dedication,” said Joseph Musoke, Manager of Strategic Partnerships at Airtel Uganda.
The Airtel Masaza Cup has grown tremendously over the years, attracting talented players and thousands of passionate fans eager to celebrate Buganda’s cultural traditions. This year’s competition has been intense, and fans are eager for a thrilling final.
Both Airtel Uganda and the Buganda Kingdom have invited football enthusiasts to attend and witness the crowning of the 2024 champions. “We’re working on making tickets available through Airtel Money, and we’ll communicate the details soon. I urge all fans to come out in large numbers to support their teams,” Musoke added. This year’s final will mark the first time since 2019 that the event returns to Mandela National Stadium, making it a highly significant occasion for both fans and participants.
