The much-anticipated BCU Sports Tournament kicked off Saturday morning at Bungokho playground, featuring football and netball matches. By the end of the first day, Busiu claimed the overall football victory, while Bungokho emerged as the netball champion. Teams from Bungokho, Busoba, and Bushiende also participated in both categories.
Nathan Mabonga, BCU’s Director and Chairperson of the Lower Central Zone, highlighted that the annual sports gala serves to discover young athletic talent for the BCU Sports Club.
It also provides opportunities for coffee-growing communities, such as educational bursaries for talented players. Mabonga encouraged parents and athletes to actively engage in the tournament to benefit from these initiatives, announcing this during his closing remarks at the Bungokho venue.

Match Day Two:
Today’s matches will take place at Bugunzu playground for the Buteza group. Teams like Buwalasi, Buteza, Sironko Town Council, and Buyoba will compete in both football and netball categories. The tournament will continue with match days 3 and 4 scheduled for the upcoming weekend:
– Saturday, September 28th: Teams from the Upper Central Zone (Bufumbo, Nakaloke, Wanale, and Bukonde) will compete.
– Sunday, September 29th:** Teams from the Manafwa Zone (Bukigai, Bumayoka, Bubita, and Bulucheke) will participate.
