BCU Sports Club Launches Second Edition of Annual Sports Tournament

The BCU Sports Club, in collaboration with Bugisu Cooperative Union Limited (BCU LTD), has officially launched the second edition of its annual sports tournament. The launch ceremony took place at Bugisu Cooperative Union on Monday, where Umar Nangoli, the team manager, distributed kits to the participating teams.

This year’s tournament, themed “United through Sports: Celebrating Community and Unity,” aims to enhance community involvement, promote healthy lifestyles, and uncover talented athletes from the Bugisu region. The event promises to be more competitive and engaging, providing a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and contribute to the development of the community.

A total of 40 teams from various zones in Bugisu will compete in the tournament, which will be structured into several stages. The tournament will commence with intra-zonal matches, featuring a gala format at the intra-zonal level, with the top teams advancing to the inter-zonal competitions.

 

The tournament schedule is as follows:

 

Lower Central Zone: Busoba, Busiende, Bungokho, and Busiu will play on Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Bungokho sub-county playground.

 

Bugusege Zone: Buyobo, Buwalasi, Buteza, and Sironko will play on Sunday, September 22nd, 2024, at Bugunzu seed playground.

 

Upper Central Zone: Bufumbo, Nakaloke, Bukonde, and Wanale will play on Saturday, September 28th, 2024, at Nabini playground.

 

Manafwa Zone: Bukigayi East, Bumayoka, Bubiita, and Bulucheke will play on Sunday, September 29th, 2024, at Bulucheke playground.

 

Bubulo Zone: Butiiru Upper, Buwagogo, Bugobero, and Buwabwala will play on Saturday, October 5th, 2024, at Shambogo playground.

 

Tsutsu Zone: Bukibokolo, Bushika, Bududa, and Bukigayi West will play on Sunday, October 6th, 2024, at Boma playground.

 

Lambuli Zone: Siisiyi, Bulago, Buginyanya, and Buluganya will play on Saturday, October 12th, 2024, at Bulegeni Primary School playground.

 

Sironko Valley Zone A: Busulani Lower, Busulani Upper, Bumasifa Upper, and Bumasifa Lower will play on Sunday, October 13th, 2024, at Masaaba Secondary School playground.

 

Sironko Valley Zone B: Bukiisi, Butandiga, Bukyabo, and Buhugu will play on Saturday, October 19th, 2024, at Mutufu playground.

 

Iwakhaha Zone: Bubutu, Butiru Lower, Bumoni, and Bumbo will play on Sunday, October 20th, 2024, at Shikana playground.

 

The tournament will run from September 21st to December 7th, 2024, with matches taking place at the designated zonal playgrounds. This structure is designed to ensure broad participation and engagement from across the Bugisu region, fostering a sense of unity and community through sports.
