This is the second part of the series about birds and us. In the first series, we took an eagle-eye view of Uganda’s birds and birding destinations with a journalist-turned-birder, Johnnie Kamugisha.

He explained why birds matter. In this part, Judith Mirembe, Uganda’s pioneer birder takes us a step further as she explains why birds are part of our cultures and as well play an essential role in our ecosystem and why they need to be conserved.

We generally shine a light on the critical role played by birds in our everyday lives, be it their role in seed dispersal, our tourism and as key ecosystems.
