Ronnie Kahigyiriza, a field officer at the BRAC Uganda Bank Rukungiri branch, was found dead in a suspected suicide.
Kahigyiriza was discovered hanging on Friday night in his rented room in Bwoma, Rukungiri municipality.
A police officer at the Rukungiri police station, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that police were alerted by Kahigyiriza’s neighbors after he failed to open his door all day.
The officer stated that because the door was locked from the inside, they had to break it down, only to be shocked by the sight of him hanging from the ceiling.
The deceased’s body was taken to Rwakabengo HC2 mortuary for a postmortem examination as investigations continue. BRAC Uganda Bank and the police have yet to release an official statement regarding Kahigyiriza’s death.
