Brigadier General Fred Twinamatsiko Kateitwa, Director of Training and Doctrine for the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) Land Forces, was laid to rest on Wednesday afternoon in Kabaare, Butare Ward, Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District. An 11-gun salute was accorded in his honor.
Brig. Gen. Twinamatsiko died in a motor vehicle accident at Katonga in Masaka District along the Masaka-Kampala highway on September 13, 2024. He was returning to Kampala from Kisoro District, where he had attended the burial of Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, the State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs.
Roland Ndyomugyenyi Bish, the Rukiga County Member of Parliament and a close relative of the deceased, stated that Twinamatsiko’s death has left a significant gap in the family, particularly due to his support for education. In a message read on his behalf by Major General Henry Matsiko Ndarubweine, Joint Staff-Political Commissariat in the UPDF, General Muhoozi Keinerugaba, Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), described the deceased as instrumental in the restoration and maintenance of peace and security in the country.
