Youth leaders from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Bugisu have formed a regional caucus, bringing together elected youth representatives from the sub-region’s six districts. The group convened over the weekend at Roxy Hotel in Senior Quarters, Mbale City, where they elected new leaders to steer the caucus.
Nimrod Kakayi, the NRM Youth League Chairperson for Namisindwa District, was elected Regional Chairperson. Gilbert Mawarara from Manafwa was elected Vice Chairperson; Isaac Masumba from Sironko will serve as Secretary for Finance; Mike Khayendekhe from Mbale District was named Publicity Secretary; Jossy Wamboko from Bududa was elected Spokesperson; Derrick Trapzium from Bulambuli was appointed Chief Coordinator; and Pius Modde from Mbale City will serve as General Secretary.

In his acceptance speech, Kakayi emphasized the importance of unity among youth leaders to build a strong, collective voice capable of lobbying for services and recognition from national leadership. He challenged the narrative that youth should be seen only as campaigners for senior politicians and pledged to live up to the trust placed in him.
“Our mission is to unite, lobby, and mobilize in the interest of the young people across Bugisu,” Kakayi said.

Emma Bwayo, the Namisindwa Male Youth Councilor, echoed the call for unity and action. He urged youth leaders to remain focused on their mandate of mobilizing peers and expanding the reach and impact of the youth agenda.
