What if fighting dirty money in our elections was the key to restoring electoral integrity? We are exploring that question in this week’s edition of the National Perspective. It is being realized that the high cost of politics in Uganda has led to the upsurge of dirty money within campaign funding.
Politicians with tainted backgrounds are finding their way into political office and therefore reigning and ruining electoral integrity. More so, it is being realized that the seepage of unregulated money campaigns into politics in Uganda could take a more dangerous path with mafia-like individuals taking advantage of the loopholes to push for selfish reasons to undermine Uganda’s democracy, good governance, and the rule of law.
