Diamond Musinga, a well-known farmer and resident of Bubaare Trading Centre in Bubaare Sub-county, Rubanda District, is counting significant losses due to the failure of UMEME, an electricity distribution company, to repair a 3-phase meter that supplies power to his farm.

Musinga, who is engaged in rearing goats, dairy cows, and Kuroiler chickens, as well as brooding chicks, connected his farm to a 3-phase power supply late last year. His goal was to address the food crisis for his animals and poultry during the dry season by producing feed pellets using a machine he had purchased.

However, Musinga’s expectations began to fade early this year when the 3-phase power supply to his farm developed a fault. Despite his repeated appeals to UMEME workers since March 10, 2024, no action has been taken to resolve the issue. Peter Kauju, the Head of Communications at UMEME, has promised that the matter will be looked into.
