Housing Finance Bank has successfully hosted the second edition of its Business Clinic series this year, following the inaugural session that focused on empowering women in business.

This latest event expanded its scope to include Micro and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), with a special emphasis on high-impact sectors such as renewable energy, affordable housing, agribusiness, and tech-enabled enterprises—sectors that align with the Bank’s strategic goal of promoting inclusive national development.

Held at the Bank’s Head Office in Kololo, the clinic convened a diverse group of participants and delivered more than theoretical insights. It provided practical, actionable guidance on accessing finance, managing businesses, overcoming operational challenges, and building sustainable models.

Michael Mugabi, Managing Director of Housing Finance Bank, underscored the clinic’s purpose: “It is a strategic initiative to directly address the unique challenges SMEs face and unlock the opportunities that can transform them into engines of innovation, employment, and inclusive growth. When we empower SMEs, we are not only investing in individual success stories—we are accelerating Uganda’s transformation.”

A key highlight of the event was the commissioning of a strategic partnership with the Uganda Green Enterprise Finance Accelerator (UGEFA), supported by the European Union. This partnership reflects the Bank’s commitment to fostering a green future for Uganda. It introduced tailor-made financial solutions for micro and small enterprises, including flexible SME loans and innovative Green Financing products. Among these is the Partial Repayment Scheme, which covers up to 33% of a loan’s principal as a grant—making sustainable finance more accessible and aligning with Uganda’s Vision 2040 and global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on climate action, decent work, innovation, and partnerships.

In the affordable housing sector, the Bank spotlighted its collaboration with firms such as Easy Housing, which develop low-cost, eco-friendly homes using fast-construction technologies. These partnerships enable Housing Finance Bank to offer customized development financing, helping developers deliver scalable, sustainable housing solutions.

Through initiatives like the Business Clinic, Housing Finance Bank continues to provide enterprises with the tools they need to grow and succeed—affirming its commitment to walking alongside Uganda’s business community. When SMEs thrive, the nation prospers.
