A fuel tanker has caught fire after overturning at Kigogwa Town along the Kampala-Bombo road in Kasangati, Wakiso District.

The incident, which took place at around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, resulted in multiple casualties, with reports indicating that several people may have lost their lives, while others have been injured.

Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and outlined the swift response from a multi-agency team.

“Emergency response teams, including fire brigade trucks, four 999 patrol cars, police ambulances, Red Cross ambulances, and sister security forces, are currently on the scene,” he said.

He explained that rescue operations are ongoing as efforts continue to manage the situation and assist those affected.

He urged the public to follow official police channels for further updates. “Our thoughts are with the affected families and communities,” Onyango added.
