GardaWorld Security, a global leader in security services, integrated risk management, and cash solutions, has officially rebranded its Ugandan operations from KK Security to GardaWorld Security. Since August, the company has been operating under the new name.

To mark the occasion, GardaWorld hosted a celebration for clients, partners, and employees at the Méstil Hotel & Residences in Kampala on September 18, 2024. Before the event, the company engaged with journalists to share insights on the rebranding and future plans.

During a press briefing, Robinson Mwenda, the Country Director for Uganda, emphasized the company’s commitment to improving employee welfare, noting it as a key factor in retaining skilled labor. He explained that many security professionals seek employment overseas, but GardaWorld aims to enhance local welfare to compete with countries like those in the Middle East.

“We believe strongly in empowering our staff with knowledge and ensuring their welfare is taken care of. We want to ensure that our staff work in a very safe environment, free from unprofessional conduct.”

“The main challenge in this market has been labor. You find that people who have been trained prefer going overseas. We counter this by enhancing welfare here in Uganda, similar to other countries in the Middle East.”

Eddy Sserunjogi, a regulator for private security companies in Uganda, expressed optimism about the rebranding, stating that GardaWorld’s approach would bring significant improvements to the private security sector.

“I am particularly impressed by GardaWorld’s commitment to operational excellence. Their dedication to integrating advanced technology is commendable. The rebranding to GardaWorld signifies a new chapter in our collective effort to support the growth of the country’s economy,” he said.

For nearly three decades, KK Security has been a trusted provider of security services in Uganda. Acquired by GardaWorld in 2016, KK Security has since been fully integrated into GardaWorld’s global operations. This rebranding marks a major milestone in GardaWorld’s strategic expansion across Africa. In Uganda, the company employs more than 3,000 security professionals and offers services across various sectors, including oil and gas, diplomacy, commerce, residential, retail, and hospitality.

GardaWorld’s tailored solutions are designed to meet the specific needs of clients, ensuring comprehensive security measures and enhanced operational efficiency. The company is confident that the rebranding will lead to new growth opportunities and enable them to continue making significant contributions to their clients, employees, and the wider community in Uganda.
