Sheikh Khabu Lule, the Kadhi for Kabale, Rubanda, and Rukiga districts, has expressed discontent with female Muslims who abandon their families to travel abroad for work.
Lule voiced his concerns on Sunday during Eid-Adha celebrations at Masjid Jaamia Kirigime in Kabale district. He emphasized that, according to Islamic teachings, men are created with the strength to work and provide for their families.
However, the current trend shows men allowing their wives to travel abroad for employment. Lule found it surprising that these women send money back to their husbands. He stressed that this practice is against Allah’s commands for women to stay and care for their homes.
Additionally, Lule decried the rampant cases of killings in Uganda, often resulting from land disputes and the idleness of the younger generation. Godfrey Nyakahuma, the Kabale Resident District Commissioner, urged religious leaders to collaborate with the government in educating the public on how to eliminate these harmful practices.
