Lower Central emerged as the undisputed champions of the recently concluded BCU Sports Tournament, securing both the football and netball titles dominantly. In a thrilling football final, Lower Central defeated Sironko Valley ‘A’ 2-0, with goals from Kauka Patrick and Sam Watuwa.

They had earlier advanced to the final by edging past Bugusege 1-0 in the semifinals, thanks to a solitary goal from Musa Mbogo. Sironko Valley ‘A’, who booked their place in the final after a 1-0 victory over Tsutsu with a goal from Erick Kiganga, struggled to break down Lower Central’s defense in the championship match.

Lower Central also asserted their supremacy in the netball competition. They cruised past Manafwa 30-9 in the semifinals before delivering a commanding 33-10 victory over Bugusege in the final. BCU Sports Club Manager Umar Nangoli credited the team’s success to the club’s strong emphasis on talent identification and development. “Our primary objective is to nurture young talent and offer scholarships to promising athletes,” he said.

Nangoli also expressed gratitude to the BCU Board for its support, highlighting the UGX 150 million allocated for the tournament’s successful organization. Additionally, he announced that the club has secured a clubhouse and is awaiting approval for a minibus and the construction of a dedicated BCU Sports Stadium.

Presiding over the final event, BCU Director Nathan Mabonga, representing Board Chairman Hon. Nathan Nandala Mafabi, congratulated all participants and encouraged them to continue striving for excellence in sports. Mabonga later presented the trophies to the triumphant Lower Central football and netball teams.
