The letter from Makerere University

Makerere University has disowned any current affiliation with Nuha Mwesigwa, following the circulation of a video on social media in which he is portrayed as a staff member of the institution. In an official statement released by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor through the Public Relations Office, the university clarified that Mwesigwa is not and has never been a staff member of Makerere University.

Management further pointed out that while Mwesigwa had previously been involved with the Makerere University-associated Private Sector Forum, that engagement ended in 2020 when the university formally withdrew from the Forum. “The University Management wishes to categorically clarify that Mr. Nuha Mwesigwa is not and has never been a staff member of Makerere University,” the statement read in part.

“The general public is hereby informed that Mr. Mwesigwa does not hold any current relationship with Makerere University and does not represent the values, policies, or official positions of Makerere University.” The clarification follows public concern over Mr. Mwesigwa’s LinkedIn profile and recent video footage where he allegedly misrepresented his association with the university. Makerere emphasized that it will not bear any liability for Mwesigwa’s statements or actions.
