A 33-year-old man in Rukiga District is currently in police detention following allegations of criminal trespass into the bedroom of a married man. Aguma Arinaitwe, a casual worker, is accused of entering the home of Bruce Mucunguzi in Rushebeya, Kitojo Ward, Rwamucucu Sub County, on the night of September 18, 2024, around 11:30 PM.
According to police reports, Arinaitwe allegedly trespassed to engage in an intimate relationship with Mucunguzi’s wife, Penina Katushabe, after learning that he had left the district for work related to pit sowing. However, Katushabe called Arinaitwe to warn him not to come, as Mucunguzi had unexpectedly returned, though he did not answer the call.
Despite the warning, Arinaitwe entered the home and went directly to the bedroom. In the process, Mucunguzi, who was in bed, sensed someone with him and reacted by raising an alarm and restraining Arinaitwe. Neighbors, alerted by the commotion, joined in and began to beat Arinaitwe after he explained the situation.
Police intervened and removed Arinaitwe from the scene to prevent him from being lynched by the angry mob. Elly Maate, the police spokesperson for the Kigezi region, confirmed the arrest and stated that investigations are ongoing. The case is currently registered at Rukiga Police Station under file number CRB/342/24.
