More than 20,000 Muslim youth from across Uganda are expected to converge at Bugembe Stadium in Jinja City on August 6th and 7th, 2025, for the inauguration of the Uganda Muslim Youth Council Assembly. The landmark event will mark the official launch of a democratically elected youth structure within the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC), following the successful amendment of the UMSC Constitution in July 2022.

The assembly is being held under the theme “Youth Empowerment and Skills Development for Self-Sustainability”, reflecting a new direction for inclusive youth participation in national and Muslim community affairs.

His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, President of the Republic of Uganda, is expected to attend as Chief Guest. He will be joined by the Mufti of Uganda, His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, as Guest of Honor, and Owek. Prof. Dr. Muhammadi Lubega Kisambira, National Chairman of UMSC, as the main celebrant.

According to Habib Mustafa, the National Chairman of the UMSC Youth Council Assembly, the newly inaugurated structure will offer Muslim youth a platform to engage in leadership, decision-making, and program implementation from the mosque level to the national stage.

“The youth councils will ensure representation from every Muslim region of Uganda and integrate youth voices into the General Assembly of Muslims. This is a huge milestone in promoting youth inclusion and empowerment,” Hon. Mustafa said while calling on all Muslim youth in Uganda to attend.

The establishment of the Uganda Muslim Youth Council marks a strategic shift in the UMSC’s approach to youth development, creating a formal and participatory framework for young Muslims to contribute to the growth of the Ummah and the nation.
