Police in Buikwe District are searching for the driver of a grader involved in a fatal hit-and-run accident with a motorcycle. On August 29, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., traffic authorities reported a collision at Lugalambo Tea Plantation along the Kampala-Jinja Highway. The accident involved a Caterpillar grader (UBM 611U) and a Honda motorcycle (UEP 551K).

According to Sezibwa Region Police Spokesperson SP Hellen Butoto, the unidentified grader driver was exiting a feeder road onto the Kampala-Jinja Highway when the collision occurred with the motorcycle ridden by 40-year-old Sulaiman Muwawu, who was traveling from Kampala to Jinja. The impact caused the grader’s front tire to be dislodged, resulting in Muwawu’s immediate death.

Muwawu, a resident of Seeta, Mukono, was identified as the deceased motorcyclist. The grader driver is still at large as investigations continue.

Both vehicles have been impounded at Mabira Police Station for inspection, and the body has been taken to Kawolo Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
