The territorial police in Njeru, Buikwe District, are actively investigating the alleged murder of Naigaga Racheal, a 45-year-old sex worker and married woman. The incident occurred on August 14, 2024, in the Namwezi Zone of Mbiko, Njeru Municipality, Buikwe District.

According to SP Hellen Butoto, PRO of the Ssezibwa Region, on August 13, 2024, at around 20:00 hours, the deceased left her home, where she lived with her husband and children, and went to Brandon Bar and Guesthouse in Namwezi Zone to drink.

The establishment, owned by Brian Balanyeki, who is currently on remand at Bugungu Prison, is being managed by his wife, Kugumikiriza Rachael.

At around midnight, the deceased reportedly engaged a client, and they booked a room together. However, the client left during the night, locking the deceased in the room and taking the keys with him.

On the morning of August 14, 2024, at around 07:00 hours, a sex worker known as French Beans alerted Meme Annet, the mother of Brian Balanyeki, to check on the deceased’s room, concerned for her safety given her history of heavy drinking.

After breaking down the door, Meme Annet found the deceased lying dead on the bed and promptly reported the matter to the police.

The body showed no visible signs of violence and was transported to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem as investigations continue.
