Dozens of Dr. Kizza Besigye’s supporters were dispersed by security at the Court Martial on Tuesday morning. Wearing t-shirts with slogans like “Free Besigye Now,” they were blocked from entering and pushed back 150 meters.
Police criticized the t-shirts as misleading and accused some supporters of making tribal remarks. Media and lawyers faced restricted access, while senior opposition figures, including Wafula Ogutu, were denied entry for wearing Besigye-branded attire.
Inside, Besigye and co-accused Abeid Lutaale appeared as the court considered its jurisdiction over alleged offenses committed outside Uganda.
