Hadji Abbas Muluubya Ssekyanzi, the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC Secretary General, has dismissed a forged court order dated May 7, 2024.
In a press statement issued on Thursday afternoon, September 19 2024, Muluubya clarified that the alleged order—supposedly issued in HCMA No. 541 of 2024 (formerly Jinja High Court Miscellaneous Application No. 23 of 2024) in the case of Hon. Ssewante Umar and 15 others versus UMSC—does not exist.
He explained that according to a thorough search conducted within the Judiciary, no such order was issued. He said UMSC is expecting an official statement from the Judiciary to confirm this finding.
This follows claims made by Issah Gule, who has been posing as the interim Chairman of Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC.
Gule alleged that the purpoted court order retired His Eminence Dr. Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje from the Office of the Mufti.
Muluubya asserts that the perpetrators of this misinformation aim to create confusion and unrest within the Muslim community.
The forged documents have been circulated to various government offices, embassies, and banks, requesting the freezing of UMSC’s bank accounts.
UMSC has urged the public to disregard these fraudulent documents. He said the organization’s legal team is taking steps to pursue legal action against those responsible.
He reaffirmed UMSC’s commitment to peace, unity, and transparency, assuring the public that justice will prevail and encouraged Muslims to remain calm and focused as the matter is addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
