A Turkish national, Kerim Ray, has been sentenced to pay a fine of 200 million shillings for depositing murram in the Lwajjali Wetland in Mukono District.
Additionally, he has been ordered to restore the wetland within 30 days under the supervision of NEMA officials.
Should he fail to comply, the Standards, Utilities, and Standards Chief Magistrates Court, presided over by Gladys Kamasanyu, has directed that Kerim Ray will face a five-year prison sentence. Ray’s colleague has been cautioned and set free.
