As the third school term begun this week, 1,000 orphans in southwestern Uganda were guaranteed access to education for the rest of the year, thanks to the Mbarara-based Christian Orphans Company Limited. The Christian Orphans Company announced the donation of school fees worth eight million shillings to orphans from the districts of Kiruhura, Isingiro and Mbarara. In addition to the school fees, they received scholastic materials, mattresses, blankets, bed sheets and jerry cans. The Director of the Christian Orphans Company, Moses Kamugisha, said the donation was made possible through his organization's partners, Faith Covenant Ministries located in the United States of America. He said the money also enabled his organization to give 70 widows in Mbarara 40 iron sheets and a blanket and mattress each. Kamugisha said the Christian Orphans Company has recently received an extra 400 million shillings to provide support to people in need in Kyenjojo and Kabarole districts.
