Seventeen men suspected of staging deadly ambushes in Kotido and Abim districts have been arrested by the Uganda People's Defence Forces. The UPDF Third Division spokesperson, Lt. Henry Obbo says the suspects who are being held in Moroto Barracks are believed to have staged several ambushes over the past two months in which 11 people were killed. He says 15 suspects were arrested in Kotido and two in Nakapiripirit. A gang of five other robbers are still on the run. According to Obbo, the suspects confessed to the crime. He says they claimed the ambushes were conducted in order for them to gain recognition from their kinsmen. The suspects will be court martialled at the end of this month.
