2 Arrested For Raping, Robbing 70-year-old Woman

Police at Kyazanga in Lwengo district are holding two men for reportedly gang raping and robbing an old woman.
The suspects in Police custody have been identified as Paul Muhoozi, and John Mastiko both residents of Lwegenyi Village, Malongo Sub County in Lwengo district.
It is alleged that the duo and their a accomplice who is still at large attacked Allen Nantongo (70) at home on Wednesday night and gang raped her before robbing her house hold property.
Paul Sserunga the village chairperson says that they were alerted by Natongo’s grand daughters who made an alarm. They found her lying helpless on the floor.
Sserunga says that they rushed the elderly woman to hospital for treatment and reported the matter to police that responded by bringing a sniffer dog that led police to Muhoozi’s home.
Kenneth Kabwiigo, the officer in charge of Kyazanga police station, says that on searching the Muhoozi’s home police recovered some of Nantongo’s property and a basin full of marijuana.
Under interrogation, Muhoozi gave up his two accomplices though only Matsiko was apprehended.
Kabwigo attributes the high crime rate in Kyazanga, Malongo and neighboring places to high rate of drug abuse in these areas.
He says that police is going to conduct a crackdown all drug dealers and people that abuse drugs especially marijuana in Kyazanga.
He further says that the suspects are likely to face charges of robbery and rape when police investigations into the matter are completed.
