3 Family Members Dead, 2 Others Hospitalized After Eating Poisoned Food

Three family members have died while two others are hospitalised in Bukedea district after eating food laced with poison. The dead include 14-year-old Michael Odeke, Proscovia Adeke 12, and Timothy Enotu.


 
Their mother, Jenifer Okalany and two other children identified as Grace Alangot and Tomas Omagor are were rushed to Bukedea Health Center IV in critical condition.

The remaining family members were rushed to hospital in critical condition.  Odongo says they have launched investigations are ongoing to establish what could have happened.

Moses Olemukan, the Bukedea District LC V Chairman, says the head of the family Paul Okalang fled from his home to Kakira Sugar Works after receiving death threats from some community members he didn't disclose.
 
 
Police also investigating circumstances surrounding the suspected poisoning of 11 family members from Agu village in Agu parish, Ngora sub county in Ngora district. The 11 were rushed to Ngora Fredda Carr hospital after eating suspected poisoned food.



They responded to treatment and were discharged.

Samples of the suspected poisoned food were dispatched to the government analytical laboratory for examination. Cases of food poisoning are common in Teso sub region especially Ngora and Serere districts.



Police attributes the cases to land wrangles.
