Lieutenant General Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police, has on Wednesday announced a major reshuffle of top police commanders that sees a total of 43 high ranking officers reshuffled.
 
26 Senior and Assistant Superintendents have been transferred and 8 Assistant Commissioners among others in an exercise that takes immediate effect.
 
Judith Nabakoba, the Police spokeswoman, says these are normal transfers.
 
However, the reshuffle seems to have affected mostly officers from areas that have been worst hit by robberies and murders.
 
According to the transfer note signed by Kayihura, the Assistant Commissioner of Police Dodovic Awita former commandant of the Counter Terrorism has been transferred as to command the Aviation
 
Police, Simon Peter Wafana, the Regional Police Commander of Greater Masaka, has been moved to the Field Force Unit awaiting deployment.
 
The Senior Superintendent of police Maximal Ogwang who was in Nebbi has replaced him.
 
Robert Walugembe, has been transferred from Kiira Road which lately registered several cases of murders and robberies to Ssembabule district as DPC. He has been replaced with by Assistant Superintendent of Police Alex Edunyu from Wandegeya police.
 
John Bambise, who was DPC Bulambuli, becomes the deputy Regional Police Commander for Kampala North region and former Masindi DPC Juma Okwugu has been transferred to Kampala South region as the deputy Regional Police Commander.
