At least eight Gateway Bus passengers have sustained serious injuries in an accident.
The passengers were travelling in a Gateway Bus registration number UAH 745Y.
The morning accident occurred on Anyolo road near near Temele in Arapai Sub County in Soroti district.
Juma Hassan Nyene, the police spokesperson East Kyoga region, said the bus overturned during the accident.
Nyene said the bus was over-speeding. It was travelling from Kotido via Amuria headed to Busia district.
No deaths have been recorded.
The survivors were picked up by Police and rushed to Arapai Health Centre III and Soroti Regional Referral Hospital.
They were later transferred to other clinics in Soroti town where some of them are admitted.
Nyene identified the victims injured as Corporal Walevi Otuket attached to Nakaperumoni in Abim district, Anna Diko (40) with her 12 year old daughter Anna Losike. They are resident in Kotido.
Others include; Timothy Chepikorin (27) a resident of Napak, Juliet Dakobesiako a student of Makerere University, Ibra Ewoku (7) a resident of Bugembe, Socrates Oketch (27) a resident of Abim and Lawrence Elasu (27) a resident of Kotido district.
The bus driver fled after the accident and a hunt for him is on-going.
The wreckage is set to be transferred to Soroti Central Police Station.
