Adam Juma Sheesa, the Kabale and Rukiga District Returning Officer has confirmed receiving Atukundas letter communicating her withdraw from the polls.

Victoria Atukunda Abigail has dropped out of the Rukiga woman parliamentary elections. Atukunda told URN that she decided to withdraw from the race in favor of the National Resistance Movement-NRM party candidate, Caroline Kamusiime Muhweezi after receiving guidance from President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

Atukunda lost to Muhweezi in the NRM party primaries and decided to go independent, citing flawed polls. She denies claims that president, Yoweri Museveni paid her Shillings 300 million and promised to give her a government job.
