Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba, the Rukiga District Male Youth Councilor, says despite raising his hand to explain why he is opposed to the proposed scrapping of the presidential age limit, Kyereere and Kamusiime turned him down without any reason.

Caroline Kamusiime Muhwezi, the Rukiga District Woman Member of Parliament has come under fire from some elders in the district for conducting biased consultative meetings on the Constitutional (Amendment) (No.2) Bill 2017.

On Monday, Muhwezi held a consultative meeting involving elders and National Resistance Movement-NRM party officials on the bill, which seeks among things to scrap the presidential age limit.

The consultative meeting was chaired by Frank Kyereere Besigye, Rwamucucu Sub County NRM party chairperson. Shortly after making her remarks, the matter was put to a vote. 167 leaders voted in favor of the bill while five rejected the proposed amendment.

However, Kamusiime and Kyereere only selected those in favor of the bill to express their views drawing angry protests from the opposing side.

Elias Turinawe the Speaker Rwamucucu Sub County, who voted against the proposed amendment, says the decision by Kamusiime and Kyereere to deny them a chance to express their views is a sign of dictatorship.

Michael Kwarikunda Mbareeba, the Rukiga District Male Youth Councilor, says despite raising his hand to explain why he is opposed to the proposed scrapping of the presidential age limit, Kyereere and Kamusiime turned him down without any reason.

He says it was a waste of time for the legislator to invite them for consultation since she already had a predetermined position.
