A primary school teacher in Apac district has been jailed for strangling Alex Jurua, the Resident District Commissioner. Trouble for Nelson Opio, a teacher at Apire primary school, in Aduku sub county started last night when at a Stanbic bank ATM in Apach. Opio reportedly entered the ATM lobby and ordered the RDC to pave way for him because he was in a hurry and needed to withdraw his money. But the RDC did not take heed to Opio's request and instead took his time completing his transaction. Opio is reported to have hurled abuses at the RDC, before jumping at his neck and attempting to strangle him. Bosco Okai, one of the people who witnessed the incident says Jurua was helped by his escorts who were at a waiting car. Mathew Etu, the criminal investigations officer says Opio would be produced in court tomorrow to answer charges of assault. Etu however adds that the teacher could also face another charge of being idle and disorderly, because he was drunk at the time he assaulted the RDC.
