Several IDP returnees in Ogur Sub-county are living under constant fear of attacks by a suspected army deserter who is on the loose attacking and killing people. The suspect has been identified as Ogal Odongo. Odong has launched frequent attacks on IDP returnees in Erute North constituency. Early this year, Odongo shot and killed three people in Nginginya village, Apoka parish Ogur Sub County. Merry Opio, the district councilor for Ogur Sub County, says that her people have been forced to abandon their gardens for fear of being attacked by the errant soldier. They fear that if the army deserter is left on the loose, food production could be affected. According to Opio, Odongo has been sighted in the villages roaming aimlessly Corner Ogur a popular trading centre, but armed with a gun. The police have launched a joint operation with the army to hunt down the errant officer. The Ogur sub county local leaders have urged the district security authorities to deploy in Nginginya village in Apoka parish, to protect the people there from possible attacks.
