Police say investigations are on-going into the illegal possession of arms by the suspects. Angucia said if investigations are complete, the file will be forwarded to the courts of law for prosecution.

There are no clues on where the suspects got the guns, but some sources say illegal arms dealing has become common between Ugandans and South Sudanese.

In December last year, three guns were recovered by the Police from suspected armed robbers after an operation was launched following a series of armed robberies in Arua town.
