"Yes Australia have communicated that they will participate. They have already selected their final team," Beatrice Ayikoru, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) Secretary General told URN on Monday.

Last week Canada to be led by Sasha Gollish and Lisa Brooking became the first nation to confirm that they will take part.


The event that will attract over 800 athletes in the senior and junior events will take place om March 26th at the Kololo Independence Grounds.


Ayikoru explained that they although teams have started to confirm participation, the last day of entry will be March 13th, 20017. "We expect top athletes to take part in this event," added Ayikoru.


Uganda have 2012 marathon Olympic gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich in the team that is currently preparing at the Bukwo training camp ahead of the trials in January next year.


Uganda beat Bahrain in the bid to host the Championship. The international Athletics body, IAAF already released the prize money of over UGX1 billion.
