Uganda Badminton Association is seeking for about four million shillings to send a team of four junior players to the Africa Under-15 badminton championships due to take place in Cairo, Egypt at the end of this month. Simon Mugabi, the national badminton team coach, says that although funds are inadequate, he is optimistic that the sponsors will be found in time. Currently the only sponsor is Housing Finance Bank which provided two return tickets a fortnight ago. The players to take part in the Under-15 badminton championships are Herbert Ebayo, Daniel Mihigo, Daisy Nakalyango and Brenda Mugabi. Simon Mugabi says the team was chosen on the strength of each individual's playing and is confident that they will represent Uganda well. //Cue in: iIf you have got funds #i Cue out: i# so you can see. /// Africa's top seeded badminton player, Edwin Ekiring, is a Ugandan. Although he is at the apex of the continental came, his recent Olympic bid fell flat when he was ejected in the first round. Still Mugabi is proud that Uganda has some of the best players. //Cue in: iAs far as #i /Cue out: i# last year.i// Uganda emerged with a bronze medal in the first edition of the tournament that was held in Pretoria.
