Banyoro to Petition Parliament Over British Compensation

Bunyoro Kitara Reparations Agency-BUKITAREPA has finalized plans to petition parliament to investigate how 700 million pounds that was reportedly paid out by the Queen of England as compensation to the Bunyoro for the atrocities committed during the colonial period was used.

 
BUKITAREPA dragged the queen to court for the atrocities committed by the colonial forces on their people. Ayena Odongo, the lawyer of BUKITAREPA, says British troops inflicted alot of atrocities to the Banyoro including murders, looting of their property and animals among others.

 
According to Ayena, they sued the Queen in High court in Uganda, but they were told the queen can't be tried in a Ugandan court.

Batwale also dismissed claims that the money had gone into roads, saying Uganda National Roads Authority-UNRA has a full-fledged budget for road construction.
