Baryamureeba Suspends Buliisa Rallies As Convoy Gets Stuck

Independent Presidential Candidate Professor Venansius Baryamureeba has suspended his campaign rallies in Buliisa District after his convoy got stuck on the way.
 
 
The presidential candidate was scheduled to address three rallies in Buliisa this morning before proceeding to Hoima. 

Speaking to journalists before addressing a rally at Hoima Bus Park this afternoon, Baryamureeba said he would reschedule the Buliisa rallies.

He decried the poor road network all over the country and pledged to address it through regional governments that he intends to establish if elected into power in 2016.

 
Baryamureeba explains that regional governments will be allocated enough funds to effectively manage their road infrastructure under his government.

On oil governance Baryamureeba promised to give Bunyoro 10 percent of oil revenues.

Under the public finance bill currently before parliament, Bunyoro Kingdom is only entitled to 1 percent of oil revenues. Two years ago, Bunyoro King Solomon Gafabusa Iguru personally went to parliament to demand 12.5 percent shares of oil revenues for his Kingdom.
 
 
Most of the oil fields in the Albertine rift lie in Bunyoro. Professor Baryamureeba also pledged land reforms to ensure that genuine land owners get land titles, as way of addressing problems of land grabbing and rampant evictions. 


Emmanuel Irumba is one of the residents who attended Professor Baryamureeba's fairly attended rally in Hoima Bus Park. Irumba, a street vendor says Baryamureeba raises pertinent issues to Bunyoro but doubts his capacity to outsmart the incumbent President Yoweri Museveni in the 2016 elections.
