Forum for Democratic Change presidential candidate Dr Kiiza Besigye says his defiance campaign will continue until Uganda attains total freedom.

Besigye says that the ruling National Resistance Movement government needs to understand that Ugandans have resisted  its ideology and policies. He was addressing journalists moments after casting his ballot at Rwakabengo health centre III polling station in Rukungiri municipality.

Besigye reiterated that the defiance campaign will involve demonstrations against the actions of the ruling government and disobedience to the NRM regime until it succumbs to the will of the people.

Besigye further revealed that this is the time for the people of Uganda to overwhelm the challenges they have been exposed to and usher in a government that is accountable to its citizens.

The four-time presidential Candidate is contesting for the country's top seat alongside seven other candidates.

Besigye hails from the Kigezi region which is also home to independent presidential Candidate Amama Mbabazi. By the time of filing this story Mbabazi who was expected to cast his vote at Karubizi church of Uganda polling station in Kinkizi west, Kanungu district.
