In short
It remains unclear how and when Besigye left the house, but a source close to the former presidential candidate told URN that Besigye left the home shortly before the police deployment. Police is reported to have deployed at the home at 8am to prevent Dr Kizza Besigye from leaving the home.

Former Forum for Democratic Change-FDC party presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye sneaked out of his home beating a heavy security deployment in Kasangati.

It remains unclear how and when Besigye left the house, but a source close to the former presidential candidate told URN that Besigye left the home shortly before the police deployment. Police is reported to have deployed at the home at 8am to prevent Dr Kizza Besigye from leaving the home.

Besigye was due to attend a victory party for the opposition organized by the FDC youth wing at Nakivubo Settlement Primary School in Kampala. The activity is a parallel event organized to counter the National Resistance Movement - NRM party celebrations at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Heavy deployment is still maintained at Besigye's home and around Kasangati trading centre.

Early in the day, Besigye's two vehicles were blocked from proceeding to Kampala and were later impounded by police.  Although police anticipated that the vehicles were aiding Besigye to sneak out of the house, a thorough search found that Besigye was not among the occupants in them. Instead the two drivers had been joined by FDC Secretary for Mobilization Ingrid Turinawe.

The vehicle was towed to Kasangati police station.

Moments later Besigye tweeted "Police just arrested vehicles going from my home, one towed to Kasangati police- thought I am hiding somewhere inside."

However FDC officials denied knowledge of Besigye's whereabouts.

This would be the second time Besigye is attempting to enter Kampala since the withdrawal of police officers from his home on April 2.

The last attempt was on Tuesday April 5, when he was arrested after disagreeing on a route with police officers who wanted him to use Yusuf Lule road as opposed to the busy Wandegeya-Bombo road- Kampala route. He was later released.
