Besigye to Prioritise Revival of Cooperatives

Dr. Kizza Besigye, the Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate has assured voters in Busoga sub region that he will restore cooperative societies at every sub county, increase teachers and doctor's pay to boost service delivery.
 
According to Besigye, the poor service delivery in the education and health sectors is largely a result of poor pay.

On average, primary school teachers currently earn approximately 270,000 shillings each month while their secondary school colleagues earn Shillings 400,000 depending. Besigye disclosed this while addressing voters in Buyende and Kamuli districts on Monday.
 
He blamed the poor for civil servants on corruption and huge public expenditure on Ministers, Presidential Advisors, Parliament and Resident District Commissioners.

Besigye promised to reduce the size of cabinet from 80 to 21 ministers. He says the current NRM government has all past Finance Ministers Gerald Sendaula, Ezra Suruma and Maria Kiwanuka, as presidential advisors which only increases government expenditure.
 
 
Prior to Besigye's visit to Busoga, voters had listed some of the key issues they want him to address during his campaign trail in the region. 

They included among others the restoration of cooperatives, improvement of roads, schools and health facilities and resolving the cultural leadership Busoga Kingdom.

Besigye is expected to address campaign rallies in Luuka and Kaliro district today as he winds up his campaign tour in Busoga sub region ahead of the 2016 presidential campaigns.
