Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate blames President Yoweri Museveni for the poor road network in the country.

Forum for Democratic Change party presidential candidate, Rtd Col Dr. Kizza Besigye says President Yoweri Museveni should be tried for the poor roads in the country during his 30 years in power.

Besigye was angered by the narrow and dusty roads he travelled on while campaigning in Eastern Uganda.

Speaking in Busia district on Friday, Besigye said president Museveni ought to be tried in court for constructing narrow and substandard roads which have claimed a lot of lives in accidents.

"President Museveni deserves to be in court for lying to Ugandans for 30 years. The few roads which have been tarmacked are mere death traps," Besigye said while addressing campaign rallies at Buwembe and Lumino play grounds in Busia district.

According to Besigye, although many of the roads the NRM government claims to have constructed are done by or with support of the World Bank and the European Union among other development partners, the money is swindled by those in government and no action is taken against them.

He has urged the people of Busia to regain their power by voting out all NRM leaders in the coming general elections.

In the rallies, several NRM members defected to the FDC by handing over their NRM membership cards to Dr. Besigye.
