Warren Buffet, the world's second richest person has donated over $37 billion dollars today to the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which funds many health initiatives in Uganda. Buffet, a billionaire investor, has given the world's largest charitable gift in history, more than doubling the assets of the foundation to almost $66 billion. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest charitable foundation in the world and focuses on providing lifesaving healthcare products to the poorest parts of the world. In Uganda, funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation has ranged from over $5 million given to HIV prevention, to a $500,000 water and sanitation project. In a statement released today, Bill Gates says he is awed by the decision and plans to use the money to address the world's most challenging inequities.
