Bukomansimbi District authorities have issued strict guidelines to property owners against construction of unplanned structures.

Muhammad Kateregga, the Bukomansimbi LCV Chairperson says the district is concerned about individuals who construct commercial structures and disregard the physical development plans.

Kateregga who was addressing a public meeting at Butenga Sub County noted that the district plans to strictly enforce the National Physical Planning Act 2010, to eliminate possibilities of creating slums in the area.

He explains that plans to create town councils could be frustrated by the existence of unplanned and illegal structures in the area.

Kateregga challenges the communities to effectively utilize compensation money obtained from Sembabule-Kanoni-Gomba-Villa Maria road project to erect planned structures.

Muhammad Matovu Kigongo, the Bukomansimbi District Works Committee Secretary says that the guidelines will also prevent encroachment on community service roads.

He asked the community to embrace the guidance for purposes of having streamlined growth in their areas that are well served with social services.

Section nine of the National Physical Planning Act 2010, establishes a district physical planning committee chaired by the Chief Administrative Officer. The functions of the committee include among others; causing an integration of social, economic and environmental plans into the physical development plans of an area in harmony with the national physical development plan.
